Top Indoor Cams for Smart Homes with Apple HomeKit
What I personally use in my HomeKit setup — and the best cams that actually work well with Apple devices
When I first started building out my smart home, I was deep in the Apple ecosystem — iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, HomePods — so naturally I wanted cameras that worked perfectly with Apple HomeKit.
But I quickly learned not all smart cams play nice with HomeKit — and even fewer support HomeKit Secure Video (HKSV), which is Apple’s private cloud storage system that keeps your footage encrypted.
After testing a ton of options, here are the top indoor cameras that work best with Apple HomeKit — including which ones offer full HomeKit Secure Video support, and which ones integrate smoothly with the Home app.

Final Thoughts
If you’re an Apple user and building your smart home around HomeKit, choosing the right indoor camera is key — not every camera plays well with Apple’s ecosystem.
✅ eufy 2K — best value, HKSV supported
✅ Logitech Circle View — native HomeKit cam
✅ Eve Cam — best for privacy
✅ Aqara G3 — cam + smart home hub
✅ Netatmo — best facial recognition + no subscription
One thing I always recommend — if you want to use HomeKit Secure Video (HKSV), make sure you have a Home Hub set up first. This can be an Apple TV (4th gen or newer) or a HomePod mini — without it, HKSV won’t work, even if the camera supports it.
Another key thing to know: HomeKit Secure Video clips don’t count against your iCloud storage — your plan just needs to support HKSV. The $2.99 iCloud+ plan supports 1 camera, $9.99 plan supports up to 5 cameras, and the $29.99 plan covers unlimited.
If you’re adding multiple HomeKit cameras, I suggest starting with one room first — test how well your WiFi network handles the load. HomeKit Secure Video is very efficient, but if you’re running five 2K cams on weak WiFi, you might need to add a better router.
Notifications are another reason I love HKSV — Apple lets you customize alerts based on people, pets, or vehicles, and even set activity zones to cut down false alarms. I only get notified when a person is detected — not when my cat walks past the camera.
One feature I use a lot: Apple Watch notifications. If my HomeKit cameras detect someone while I’m out, I get a rich notification on my watch with a preview — so I can see what’s happening instantly.
For privacy, I also love that HomeKit cams can automatically turn off when I’m home. I’ve set up automation so when my iPhone arrives on the home network, certain cameras stop recording — perfect for indoor spaces like bedrooms.
Siri integration is underrated — I can say, “Hey Siri, show me the nursery” and the camera pops up instantly on my iPhone, iPad, or HomePod with display. Super convenient when your hands are full with groceries or holding the baby.
When using multi-camera views in the Apple Home app, cameras that fully support HomeKit (like eufy or Logitech Circle) load faster than cams that rely on third-party apps — another reason I stick with native HomeKit cams.
If you have HomePod mini speakers, you can set them up to announce when a camera detects a person — I love this for when we’re home, so I don’t miss someone arriving at the door.
Another thing to know — HomeKit Secure Video stores encrypted video in iCloud, but only you can view it — not even Apple. It gives me a lot more confidence in privacy compared to random brand cloud services.
If you travel a lot or own multiple properties, HKSV is also ideal — you can pull up video from any HomeKit camera from anywhere, using end-to-end encryption over your iPhone or Mac.
Lastly — keep in mind that HomeKit continues to expand. Many newer Matter-certified cameras will start adding HomeKit support soon, which means even more options are coming for Apple fans.
